A clear 2026 guide for UAE residents on the UK Student visa, covering CAS, proof of funds in AED and English requirements from Dubai.
The United Kingdom continues to attract ambitious students from across the UAE, with its respected universities and rich academic tradition. If you are in Dubai and planning to study in Britain, the Student visa, formerly known as the Tier 4 visa, is your route. This guide explains the requirements and steps clearly, so you can apply with confidence rather than anxiety.
Securing Your CAS
Everything begins with an unconditional offer from a licensed student sponsor, a university or college approved by the Home Office. Once you accept your place and meet its conditions, the institution issues a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies, known as a CAS.
The CAS is a unique reference number containing your course and personal details. You cannot apply for the visa without it, so treat securing your CAS as your first priority. Check every detail on it carefully, as errors can delay your application.
Proving Your Funds
The UK requires you to show you can pay your course fees and support yourself. This means covering your first year of tuition plus a set monthly living allowance, which differs depending on whether you study inside or outside London (verify current figures before applying).
Crucially, the money must usually sit in your account for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply. Funds held in AED are accepted, but plan ahead so the balance is stable across that whole period. Sudden large deposits raise questions, so avoid last-minute transfers.
English and Documents from Dubai
You will normally prove your English through an approved Secure English Language Test, which you can sit at accredited centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, though some universities assess English differently. Confirm what your specific course requires before booking.
You will also complete biometrics at a visa application centre in the Emirates, and you may need a tuberculosis test certificate from an approved clinic. Keep certified translations ready for any documents not already in English or Arabic as required.
Applying Honestly and Safely
The UK takes credibility seriously, and applicants are sometimes asked credibility questions to confirm they are genuine students. Answer truthfully and know your course and finances well.
Never accept an offer of forged bank statements or fabricated documents from anyone. Deception leads to refusal and a long re-entry ban. Honest, well-prepared applications from the UAE succeed every day, and that is the only route worth taking.
